Tours

Here we describe two semi-scientific industry tours, which are offered free of charge for registered conference participants (limited number of tickets, max. one tour per person).
Registration for both tours is closed!

Tour 1: Airbus Hamburg-Finkenwerder

Hamburg-Finkenwerder is the largest Airbus site in Germany with around 12,500 employees. Hamburg is the home of the A320 Family programme management and the A380 major component assembly hall. The tour includes a visit of the component assembly and final assembly of A318/A319/A320/A321 and a tour of the A380 area with a visit to the fuselage structural assembly and cabin equipping hangars of the A380 aircraft. The guided tour is planned to take place in English. Participation is free of charge for registered conference participants, yet there is a limited number of tickets.

When: Wednesday afternoon (Aug. 31), 16:10 - 18:40 (on-site tour).

This tour is fully booked. We have sent a confirmation e-mail to confirmed participants on Aug. 18.

If you like to take part at this Airbus tour please register by sending an e-mail (with your name, nationality, date of birth and place of birth, and address) to or2016@hsu-hh.de until August 14. Due to security requirements we have to submit the participant list to the tour operator at this date. Please carry your valid identity card or passport during the tour; the identity papers will be checked when entering the Airbus plant. (Driving licenses or other documents are not accepted.)

Meeting point: 15:05 (Aug. 31) in the coach at the bus roundabout in front of the main building (H1) (at the main entrance of the campus). We will take you to Airbus-Finkenwerder, where we will check-in at the Airbus Periport, to the left of the main entrance "East gate" (Osttor) (Kreetslag 7, 21129 Hamburg). Please be prepared for mainly walking during the visit (approx. 2km, the tour is not suitable for wheelchair users and people with mobility problems). The tour is timed so that the coach will directly bring you to the reception afterwards. (You may also take the ferry line 62 back to Landungsbrücken.)

Tour 2: Lufthansa Technik (Hamburg Airport)

Lufthansa Technik (LHT) is a leading provider of technical support services for aircraft. Main expertise fields of the business units in the company's base at Hamburg airport are engine overhaul, the conversion of aircraft for private customers, product development and cabin innovations. The tour visits the overhaul hangars and the engine workshops. Special topics may be discussed depending on the interests of the participants. The guided tour is planned to take place in German/English. Participation is free of charge for registered conference participants, yet there is a limited number of tickets.

When: Thursday morning (Sept. 1), 10:00 - 12:30 (on-site tour).

This tour is fully booked. We have sent a confirmation e-mail to confirmed participants on Aug. 23.

If you like to take part at this Lufthansa Technik tour please register by sending an e-mail (with your name, nationality, date of birth and place of birth, and address) to or2016@hsu-hh.de until August 19. Due to security requirements we have to submit the participant list to Lufthansa Technik at this date. Please carry your valid identity card or passport during the tour; the identity papers will be checked when entering the Lufthansa Technik site. (Driving licenses or other documents are not accepted.)

Meeting point: 09:00 (Sept. 1) in the coach at the bus roundabout in front of the main building (H1) (at the main entrance of the campus). Alternatively, you may travel on your own to the bus stop Lufthansa Basis (Address: Weg Beim J├Ąger 193, 22335 Hamburg) in front of the main entrance to the Lufthansa Technik site, where you can hop on our coach at approx. 09:45. Please be prepared for partly walking during the visit (the tour is not suitable for wheelchair users and people with mobility problems). At the end of the tour the coach will bring you to the conference venue.
